Classic Mint Julep

Ingredients
Fresh Mint
Bourbon whiskey
Sugar Syrup
Crushed ice

Mint Julep Lite

Splash a generous slug of bourbon in a tall glass filled with crushed ice and add one third as much sugar syrup. Add four or five gently bruised mint leaves and top up with more ice. That's it.

Mint Julep Luxe

Shake up the whiskey, sugar syrup and mint and leave in the fridge for several hours so that the mint flavour can permeate the whiskey. Dash a shake of angostura bitters into the final concoction.

Tip: To make sugar syrup at home

Heat two cups granulated white sugar with one cup water and stir well until dissolved and just below boiling point. Keep in the fridge and use within one month.
