This season the skull motif, long popular with Goths, Bikers and Skateboarders has taken a leap into mainstream fashion. (Personally we blame Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean.)
The skull motif can be found everywhere from Paris designers to the High Street. Must-have buy for the fashionistas is a skull patterned silk scarf from designer of the moment Thomas Wylde - who also has a skull handbag line (see our link for stockists).
Top couturier Alexander McQueen has designed a silk scarf with a skulls pattern and skinny IT girls like Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan have been photographed wearing them. Singer Pink is wearing a skull motif hat in our photo.
Not just scarves though, handbag designers are never slow to jump on a fashion wave and the new season's handbags feature skulls in every possible variation from discreet metal studs to logos emblazoned on the front.
Rhinestone skull motifs too are appearing everywhere from tees to jean pockets. Plus of course you can always D-I-Y your own motif onto jeans, bags tees.
Men can get into the action too with Skull backpacks from skateboard gear designer Zero and belts and chains from the local bikers shop. Expect designer leather jackets with skull motifs to hit the street anyday now.
Look at the Butler and Wilson skulls jewellery range too - not for the faint hearted.
And why not try some skull patterned handmade boots from Caboots if you feel like pushing out the boat. Check out our link.
If you’re really keen you can even make or knit your own skull motif. (And if you are really sad, we have even rounded up a skull motif for you to embroider on your iPod sock).
Follow our links for more information on how to create your own skull style.
