"The idea is to do something useful towards eliminating America's dependence on foreign oil, help put the the American family farmer back to work and clean up the environment we live in".
These were the word used by the legendary Country Music star Willie Nelson in December 2004 to launch his biodiesel fuel distribution business.
Willie, who has been in Texas recently campaigning for his friend Kinky Friedman to be govenor, has already converted his celebrated tour bus the Honeysuckle Rose to run on the new environmentally friendly fuel.
Kinky is also supporting the development of renewable energy sources in his campaign. He has promised to make Willie, a felllow native Texan, head of the Texas Rangers if he wins.
The fuel, which is produced from renewable bio-mass crops, will also provide a lifeline for hard pressed American family farmers.
Willie was a founder of FarmAid which started as a benefit concert on September 22, 1985, in Champaign, Illinois, to raise money for family farmers in the United States. The concert was organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Bob Dylan
